If your homeschool student has taken high school–level math like Algebra 1 or Geometry in middle school, you might be wondering — How do I list that on their transcript?
Why This Matters
Colleges care about what your student has taken, not necessarily when. If they’ve mastered high school math early, you can absolutely count it toward their high school graduation requirements.
Two Ways to List It
- Under 9th Grade – The simplest method. Just list it with the other 9th-grade courses, even if taken earlier.
- In a Separate Section – Create a “High School Credit Earned in Middle School” section. This shows the exact year it was taken but still counts toward high school totals.
Credit Value
A standard Algebra 1 or Geometry course counts for one full credit.
What Colleges See
Colleges typically focus on 9th–12th grade credits. If you list Algebra 1 as a 9th-grade credit, they’ll accept it — even if your student took it in 7th or 8th.
